Filipino Style Fruit Salad and Cherlin's 7th Birthday Party

Hi everyone! Hope you are all doing well and enjoying the week! I was very busy preparing for Cherlin's 7th birthday party that's why I've been MIA. But it's over now, and I'm happy to share with you that the party was a big success and the birthday girl had a blast!
It was truly a memorable day for my little princess! She had so much fun spending time with her friends designing their tiaras and wands, and of course, playing at the bounce house and doing the pabitin and piƱata.
We had a total of 70 guests. i.e., 36 adults and 34 kids. Whewww! Honestly, I couldn't believe that we were able to pull it off! I even thought that we would run out of food. Good thing, we didn't! There was enough for everyone and we even had extra for some guests to take home.
Though the star of the party was this very fabulous cake made by my dear friend, Christy...
...every dish we prepared was a hit! The guests (both Filipinos and non-Filipinos) really love the Filipino Style Spaghetti, Beef Caldereta, Pork Menudo, Embutido, Macaroni and Cheese, Chopsuey, Chicken and Mushrooms in Teriyaki Sauce, Custard Cake, Tres Leches Cupcakes and this Filipino Style Fruit Salad...
Unlike the American fruit salad, Filipino Style Fruit Salad has condensed milk and cream. This is a very simple yet very delicious dessert that requires no cooking. All you need to do is a little chopping and mixing, and it's ready to serve!

Ingredients:

  • 2 (29 oz.) cans fruit cocktail, drained
  • 1 (20 oz.) can pineapple tidbits, drained
  • 1 (29 0z.) can peach halves, drained and cubed
  • 4 medium sized apples, peeled, cored and cubed
  • 2 cups grapes, washed and stems removed
  • 1 cup grated mild cheddar cheese
  • 2 (7.6 oz.)cans Nestle table cream (I used Lite)
  • 1 (14oz.) can condensed milk (I used unsweetened)
Instructions:
1. In a large bowl, mix all the ingredients until well combined.
2. Chill until ready to serve. Transfer to a big serving bowl or to individual serving bowls like this...

I must admit that the party preparation and all the cooking seemed to have drained all my energy. It really got me so exhausted...but seeing Cherlin's happy face made me feel that all the time and effort I put into her party was all worth it.
Cherlin's happy and so am I...and the thought that I made another birthday truly memorable for my daughter gives me the feeling of joy and contentment! So priceless!

To everyone who came to Cherlin's party, THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! Your presence made it so special and truly, a day to remember!!!

All the gifts are very much appreciated too...and my, I tell yah, she loves them all!

  5. Great birthday party, I can see princess enjoyed the day with full blast. You are really good cook, making food for 70 people. In India fruit salad is made with custard. Love this version.

  7. I make the American kind with just sweetened cream but the addition of sweetened condensed milk would send this over the top. :)

    1. No Raquel. It's still condensed milk but with no sugar. It's available here in the US...not sure if you can find it somewhere else.

      Thanks again.

    3. It's "Great Value" from Walmart, Raquel...but I don't know if it's still available. The last time I found one was in December. Now it's just the regular and fat free condensed milk that I always see.
